How much storage do I need for my cameras?
For 10 HD cameras recording 24/7 you need approximately 4 TB for 30 days retention. With H.265+ compression from Hikvision/Dahua, storage is reduced by up to 50% compared to H.264. We size the NVR to your exact needs.
What is the difference between Hikvision and Genetec?
Hikvision and Dahua are hardware manufacturers (cameras, NVRs) with their own software. Genetec is an enterprise-level VMS (Video Management Software) that integrates cameras from multiple brands, access control and analytics in a single platform. For large projects, we recommend Genetec VMS over Hikvision or Avigilon hardware.
